Jurassic Five
Interscope Records
|
With their convergence of old-school spirit and new-school sensibility JURASSIC 5 are the late 90s answer to the Native Tounges movement of music as produced by A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and The Jungle Brothers (the latter will appropriately also be performing this evening). Sadly like too much American talent Jurassic 5 had to go to England to really blow up, but thankfully their success overseas has now translated into a US deal through Interscope. Consisting of four MCs and two DJs, Jurassic 5 area throwback of sorts, referencing a bygone era in hip-hop music.
In sound, the four MCs ? Cahli2na, Zaakir, Akil, and Marc 7 ? conjure up the dynamic flows, harmonic convergence, and fly b-boy bravado. Jurassic 5?s beat-providers Cut Chemist and DJ Nu-mark, rock the decks with inventive original beats that hark back to the true DJ innovators. With Jurassic 5, it?s a more innocent, irreverent time that comes to mind. Jurassic 5 satisfy the hunger for a next-school optimism that will reconstruct the hip-hop landscape so that people are lost no longer.
