Amp Fiddler
biography

Joseph "Amp" Fiddler is known for sharing the stage and studio with luminaries such as Prince, George Clinton & the P-Funk All-Stars (with whom he toured for more than 10 years), The Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, Maxwell, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Carl Craig and famed Detroit underground producer Moodymann. Amp Fiddler is also credited with playing a pivotal role in bringing Slum Village to global attention; he was a friend and collaborator of late producer James "J Dilla/Jay Dee" Yancey. Amp Fiddler’s warm, expansive, mellifluous music takes stylistic cues from all these encounters, but emerges as earthy, supremely relaxed, and rooted in the funk & soul to which Amp Fiddler feels most connected. Amp Fiddler recently swept the 2007 Detroit Music Awards as a winner in 3 categories and he has no plans of stopping. Following the strong worldwide release of Waltz Of A Ghetto Fly, the new album Afro Strut finds Amp Fiddler stepping onwards and upwards as he continues to define his own very singular, smooth style of funk, soul, electronica and dance.
