Output Recordings Artists
biography

Trevor Jackson: Veteran DJ and producer Trevor Jackson is best known for his Playgroup project which saw him release a critically acclaimed album of original material, a coveted mix set for !K7’s DJ-Kicks series, and a soon-to-be-released compilation of remixes for the likes of Radio 4 and Peaches. In his Underdog guise, Jackson has remixed artists including Massive Attack and U2 and his production credits are too lengthy to mention. In addition to his musical releases, Jackson has found the time to serve as creative director for Output, working closely with all the artists on the label to develop their projects while also serving as the imprint’s in house graphic artist. His reputation as a true tastemaker was recently confirmed by an invitation to serve as a panelist at Cooper Union’s “Creativity Now conference to be held this Fall in New York.

Colder: Perhaps Output’s most well known act in America, Colder is the musical vision of Marc Nguyen Tan, an acclaimed video artist and designer based in Paris. Fusing a broad array of influences from dub reggae to dour post punk, Colder’s debut “Again became an instant classic upon it’s release late last year. Having received accolades from press all across the world, Colder are poised to release their second album and embark on their first national tour of the US. No wonder then that “Again is set to top many of this Fall’s inevitable Best of 2004 lists.

Mu: Japanese-born Mutsumi Kanamori is one of England’s most outthere musical personalities. Tiny but boisterous, her onstage histrionics and wry sarcasm are backed by some of the most bizarre dance music ever created, courtesy of her husband and collaborator, house music legend Maurice Fulton. Having produced everything from pop hits like Crystal Water’s “Gypsy Woman to dance punk outfit !!!, Fulton’s eclectic sensibilities are the perfect backdrop for Mu’s off-the-cuff pontification on everything from label Luke Jenner of the Rapture (“We Love Guys Named Luke) to pop culture princess Paris Hilton (“Paris Hilton). Somewhere between avant garde performance art and dance music, Mu has never before played in the US despite the fact that her debut album “Afro Finger And Gel was rated one of pitchforkmedia.com’s Top 15 albums of 2003.

Dead Combo: The quintessential Lower East Side rockers, Dead Combo represent the dark, seedy underbelly of Output Recordings. Their nicotine fueled, beer-soaked shows are the stuff of legend and their offstage antics rival anything featured on “Behind The Music. Veterans of countless bands, Finnish-born Nuutti Kataja and Harri Kupiainen came together sharing a love of bands like the Crampps, KMFDM and Suicide. Output’s most recent signing, Dead Combo have taken their synth-laden death rock on the road with bands like The Rapture, LCD Soundsystem, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Franz Ferdinand, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Their debut album comes out the week before Output’s CMJ showcase.
