biography

Silhouette Brown emerges from the ranks of West London's musical hub. The masterminds behind Silhouette's production are Dego (2000black/4hero/dkd), Kaidi Tatham (Agent K/Bugz In The Attic) and the co-writer/producer Bembe Segue. In 2005, Silhouette Brown's first self-titled album featured songstress Deborah Jordan with a sultry blend of jazz and soul. Deborah is best known for her work with London-based avant-garde jazz band, Panacea. She has also forayed into the world of underground soul working as backing vocalist director for songstress Eska and the multi-talented Bembe Segue. Silhouette Brown guides us towards a new dimension for modern soul music with a distinctively London-esque flair. It conveys a touch of melancholy in tone through contemplative yet hopeful lyrics and just enough groove for those looking for that “je ne sais quoi” in their regular dosage of Jazz and Nu soul. Silhouette Brown's second LP two features the unmistakable vocal sounds of Philadelphia's Lady Alma who has appeared on countless club classics from Sylk130's “When the Funk Hits The Fan” to Soul Dahmma's “Happy” and 4hero's “Hold it Down”. Soaring with a distinctive soulful voice from start to finish, showing all her versatility and warm spirit, Lady Alma delivers two into a relaxed head-nod-soul experience. Silhouette Brown's live band tours across the globe and has performed at various events, venues and festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands), Roma Jazz Festival (Italy), Paradiso (Amsterdam) and Cargo (London). Nominations include Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Awards.
