event description
It's that time of year again when we present our annual Miami jaunt during WMC. In previous years, we've brought you stellar acts from Erykah Badu to Daft Punk, Gilles Peterson and many others. Once again, we are doing 2 nights of our 13th annual Sunset Soiree poolside at Delano with live guests, including K'NAAN [Exclusive], Anjulie [Exclusive], Rye Rye, Wayna, Joy Jones and Brendan O'Hara & The Big Bounce, plus DJ sets from Turntables On The Hudson, Claas Jazzanova and Vikter Duplaix. Later in the night, we are also taking over The Florida Room at Delano for 3 evenings, with performances from Wale [Exclusive], Melanie Fiona [Exclusive] and Taylor McFerrin, as well as DJ sets from Questlove [Exclusive], Pete Rock [Exclusive], Benji B [Exclusive], King Britt, Keen One and Jus Ske. Keep checking back for updates and special guest announcements. See you in the sun!
On Saturday, March 28th, Giant Step closes out the series with Questlove at The Florida Room and the final Sunset Soiree (acts TBA) at the Poolside.
Known today as star percussionist for The Roots, Questlove has lent his talents to other artists, projects, and productions. From performing as the drummer for The Philadelphia Experiment, a collaborative instrumental jazz album featuring musicians from Philadelphia, to a DJ Release of a compliation disc Questlove Presents: Babies Making Babies and numerous contributions as either drummer or producer for D'Angelo's 2000 album VooDoo, Slum Village's album Fantastic, Vol 2, Common's albums Like Water for Chocolate and Electric Circus, and many many more including the likes of Erykah Badu, Bilal, Dialated Peoples, and Zap Mama. With latest Roots release, Game Theory, Questlove has yet to slow down bringing the expertise and old school rhythms of soul into the twenty-first century.
