Giant Step and Steve Madden Present

K'NAAN
Growing up in war-torn Somalia, K'NAAN has seen more gun violence and tougher streets than your average gangster rapper could ever imagine, yet he chooses to use his experience to spread peace with his eloquent and thought-provoking lyrics. This juxtaposition offers a refreshing body of work to the contemporary hip-hop world. On his debut album Troubadour, events like these don't need to be glorified or exaggerated for the sake of art. The album has garnered critical acclaim from NPR, The New York Times and Huffington Post. For anyone who's said that hip-hop has nothing left to say, Troubadour proves that it all depends on where you look.

Somalia

Rye Rye
Baltimore rapper Rye Rye is the first artist signed to M.I.A.’s record label N.E.E.T and will be releasing her debut LP this Spring. Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Wayna possesses a voice that is as sweet and pure as it is honest and passionate. She has shared the stage with several respected artists including Fantasia, Amerie and Common.

Wayna
With her sophomore effort, Higher Ground, the Grammy-nominated Wayna reaches new and daring heights, experimenting with broken beat and progressive hip hop sounds, while remaining true to her roots in classic soul and contemporary R&B.

Joy Jones
Growing up, Joy was exposed to an array of different styles of music ranging from gospel, soca, classical, African choral music, soul and jazz – and this, along with inspirational places and events, all helped prompt Joy Jones to put her heart and soul into music. After graduating, she moved to London where she met Daz-I-Kue and became an honorary member of the Bugz in the Attic crew. Her upcoming album on Future Soul Records features afro-beat lullabies, future jazz/soul, protest songs, electronic hymns and more.

Brendan O'Hara & The Big Bounce
The Big Bounce- composed of New Jersey-raised Brendan O’Hara and Brooklyn-born Komakozie- make music that’s meant to move the masses. From the red-bricked Northeast to the welcoming West Coast, and then on to paradise, this South Beach duo ignites stages nightly with a blend of soulful sounds and irresistible charm.

Vikter Duplaix
Vikter Duplaix, a Philadelphia native, honed his DJ skills with Philly legends Jazzy Jeff and King Britt. He uses his renowned DJ sets as a vehicle to bring likeminded music to pleasure seekers worldwide including Europe, Japan, South America and beyond.
