Giant Step Presents Scott Hardkiss Plus Special Guests Lisa Shaw & Bobby Harden
Monday, September 7 2009
New York City Hudson Hotels, New York NY

event description
Giant Step's biweekly DJ series at Hudson Hotel presents Scott Hardkiss plus special guests Lisa Shaw & Bobby Harden on Monday, September 7.

For our 12th Hudson, we celebrate Labor Day weekend with DJ/producer Scott Hardkiss, who's just delivered his long-awaited debut artist album Technicolor Dreamer. Opening heads & hearts and making booties shake since his early days organizing and DJing some of the first US raves and electronic dance events in the early 90's, he was at the forefront of the San Francisco/West Coast sound. Spearheading a movement towards warm, colorful, eclectic and trippy electro-funk in an ultra- conservative fast, hard & cold black-and-white age, Scott Hardkiss has always refused to stick to simply one sound, becoming known for an atmospheric, uplifting blend of funky house & breaks spiced with disco, soul, techno, funk and rock.

Having since returned to his hometown of NYC, he's been voted one of DJ Magazine's World's Top 50 DJs several times and remixed everyone from Elton John to Dean & Britta to The Flaming Lips (for the Grammy-nominated Fight Test EP). A true renaissance man, Scott has also collaborated with artists including George Clinton, Kool Keith & members of the New York Philharmonic and created scores for films, ads and trailers by directors such as Spike Lee and Wes Anderson.

"[Technicolor Dreamer is] like a marathon Parliament-Funkadelic holiday weekend." -- Entertainment Weekly

Scott will be joined by special guest live vocal performances by Lisa Shaw, known for her classics on labels such as Salted and Naked Music, and NYC soul sensation Bobby Harden - both of whom feature on Technicolor Dreamer.

As New York City's premier Monday night event for the last two years, the Hudson has consistently seen a curated roster of DJ legends and pioneering artists as wide-ranging as Louie Vega, Afrika Bambaataa, Jazzanova, Bobbito and Danny Krivit, playing styles from soulful house, Latin, hip hop, jazz, funk and more. Mark your calendars for quality music and dancing at Hudson.
