Monday, September 21 2009
Hudson Hotel, New York NY

event description
Giant Step's biweekly DJ series at Hudson welcomes back world-renowned Bay Area DJ/producer Miguel Migs for an exclusive NYC appearance on Monday, September 21. Celebrating the release of his new mix compilation, Get Salted Volume 2, Miguel will be joined by special guest vocalist Lisa Shaw.
It's been four years since Miguel Migs released the critically acclaimed Get Salted compilation on his own Salted Records. A lot's happened since the landmark release - Migs wrote and recorded the critically acclaimed album Those Things, released a remix album Those Things Remixed, put together a new live act and toured with his band Petalpusher, continued to tour all over the world full-time as a DJ and worked on his label. On September 22nd, Miguel releases Get Salted Volume 2, which features tracks and remixes from Miguel Migs, Fred Everything, Jay-J and Lisa Shaw & loads of exclusive material.
As a DJ, Miguel combines a variety of influences and styles fused together. The result is funky, deep, soulful, bumping house music. "I like to mix it up and keep it moving smoothly, taking the dance floor through a very spontaneous mix into the realms of quality, deep house music depending on the mood in the room", says Migs. "But, whether it's vocal, tracky, dubby, moody, percussive or broken beat, the sound always remains soulful and funky."
As New York City's premier Monday night event for the last two years, the Hudson has consistently seen a curated roster of DJ legends and pioneering artists as wide-ranging as Louie Vega, Afrika Bambaataa, Jazzanova, Bobbito and Danny Krivit, playing styles from soulful house, Latin, hip hop, jazz, funk and more. Mark your calendars for quality music and dancing at Hudson.
