Giant Step Presents SVEDKA Vodka Sessions #4: an evening with Nneka, making her Los Angeles debut performance, and special guest DJ Vikter Duplaix.

SVEDKA Vodka Sessions, a concert series brought to you by Giant Step and SVEDKA, brings you the very best bands and emerging artists. The series has already featured Wale with DJ Mark Ronson at Hudson Hotel in New York, Peter Bjorn And John and DJ Jason Bentley at Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood, as well as Diane Birch with DJ Anané Vega at Hudson Bar.
Born in Nigeria, Nneka relocated to Hamburg, Germany, at the age of nineteen to pursue a career in music along side a degree in Anthropology. The singer hooked up with DJ and hip hop beat-maker DJ Farhot and ever since, their strong musical relationship has been the backbone of Nneka’s success.
After finishing her debut EP The Uncomfortable Truth she toured Europe, supporting the likes of Femi Kuti, Seeed, Sean Paul and Gnarls Barkley. Performing all over from her adopted hometown of Hamburg to Holloway Prison in London.
Nneka’s album Victim Of Truth was released in September 2006 to rave reviews from the music press. The songs on the album provide a range of sounds from deep soulful ballads like "Confession" to funky hip hop tracks like "Stand Strong" to "Changes," which is a modern reinvention of the 90s UK soul sound.
Now making her US debut tour with Concrete Jungle, slated for release on February 2nd, 2010. The digital EP will be available on November 3, and a vinyl 7” will be released in November, 2009.
Vikter Duplaix is a songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and DJ. He has been associated with the likes of DJ Jazzy Jeff and Kenny Gamble since early on in his career, which proved to be instrumental to his growth and stature.
He contributed vocals to King Britt's Scuba project 'Swell', and provided remixes and collaborations for the likes of Jazzanova, Nitin Swahney, The Roots, Erykah Badu, and Meshell ndegeocello. All leading to his first solo album in 2003 titled International Affair on Hollywood Records.
His sophomore album release, Bold and Beautiful, followed in 2006 on bbe records. "Make A Baby", a single from "Bold and Beautiful", was nominated for a 2008 Grammy Awards in the Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance.
