Giant Step Presents The Martinez Brothers
Monday, November 30 2009
Hudson Hotel, New York NY

event description
Giant Step's bi-weekly Monday night DJ series is proud to welcome back The Martinez Brothers on Monday Nov. 30

If you've ever seen The Martinez Brothers spin, you know that what separates Chris and Steve Martinez from the rest of the pack isn't just their skills, but their seemingly limitless energy and spirit. oh, and their age.

By now you've heard about the Martinez Brothers. These guys are practically the definition of new blood. Steve is 20, Chris is 17. For a little perspective on the unlikelihood of their position, consider this: Shelter, the club where the Martinez Brothers learned just about everything they know about house music, opened its doors the same year that Chris was born. Which makes it all the more incredible that Shelter was the Martinez Brothers' first major club gig in 2006.

The Martinez Brothers kicked off a new chapter in January, 2007, when Dennis Ferrer's Objektivity label released "My Rendition" a powerhouse of a record that won them a whole new world of acclaim. Their second album, ironically named, "Debbie Downer" with Berlin based Greek producer Argy was released earlier this year, also to rave reviews, showcasing all their new found skills.

These guys have a 2009 tour schedule that would make most veterans of the game weep with envy. From the festival Elecrtic Daisy Carnival (Los Angeles), Ministry of Sound (London), Pacha (Ibiza), to the Social Club in Paris these guys prove time and again that when it comes to flow, age is irrelevant.

As New York City's premier Monday night event for the last two years, the Hudson has consistently seen a curated roster of DJ legends and pioneering artists as wide-ranging as Louie Vega, Afrika Bambaataa, Jazzanova, Bobbito and Danny Krivit, playing styles from soulful house, Latin, hip hop, jazz, funk and more. Mark your calendars for quality music and dancing at Hudson.
