POSTPONED: Giant Step Presents SVEDKA Vodka Sessions #7: Amanda Blank, Daniel Merriweather (acoustic set) and Ebony Bones with DJ Moni [Postponed]
Wednesday, February 10 2010
Good Units at Hudson, A Morgans Hotel, New York New York

event description
Due to the weather in New York City, this event has been postponed.

For the 7th, and final, installment of our SVEDKA Vodka Session series we bring you a very special evening jam packed with some of the best emerging artists to watch out for in 2010. Amanda Blank will start off the evening with her high energy style, followed by a very special acoustic set by Daniel Merriweather, and then Ebony Bones will close up the set with a bang. Making sure there is not a dull moment the whole night, guest DJ Moni will be spinning all through the evening.

Entrance is free but strictly RSVP only

The list of artists that can sing, rap, write pop songs and perform them with irresistible charisma is small. The list of female performers that can do all of that is even smaller and Amanda Blank is about to rise to the top of that list with her debut album, I Love You. Many are familiar with Amanda as the fiery vixen appearing alongside crowd and critical darlings Spankrock, and as part of the Philly-based pop group Sweatheart. Enlisting the help of uber-produers Diplo, Switch and XXXChange, Amanda Blank has made a record that is light years ahead of what anyone could’ve expected based on her guest appearances and collaborations thus far (Brittany Spears, M.I.A., Aaron LaCarte, Plastic Little). Balancing a razor-sharp wit & vocal dexterity with an unmatched stage presence, this is a woman to watch. Other featured guests on the record include Spank Rock, Santigold, Lykke Li and the Cool Kids.

Might Like You Better

Australia's latest soul sensation, Daniel Merriweather, quickly garnered industry attention in his hometown, signing with indie-label Marlin, he begun work on tracks for his debut album that he would later shelve before release because the label just "wasn't ready and that’s not how I wanted it to be." Courted by major labels there, few could see beyond the marketplace and how this voice could sit alongside the home-grown rock music that dominated the charts at the time. Thankfully nature intervened and his demos came to the attention of Mark Ronson who instantly fell in love with his voice. What followed was not only the birth of a unique working partnership but also a great friendship. His official debut album, Love & War, was released in the UK in June 2009, to #2 on the charts. Its U.S. release is scheduled for February of this year.

Ebony Bones is a British singer-songwriter, record producer and actress. She started her professional life at the tender age of 15 as an actor and while this particular choice didn’t suit her (she was unruly and disobedient – not a great trait for an actor), she knew she had to perform. She ended up bringing a laptop to rehearsals and making her first tunes on an early Pro Tools.

Her first song was made as a joke for her mates called 'Don’t Fart On My Heart' and, surprised by a phenomenal response to the track, she made some serious recordings with the drummer of The Holy Grail. Ebony’s first live gig was supporting Basement Jaxx prior to the the release of her debut album and since then she hasn’t looked back. Her first album 'Bone of My Bones' is signed to Sunday Best Recordings. Lets take a moment and repeat that; prior to writing and producing her debut album, Ebony Bones was booked and performing globally. That's right! She is that good.

She was named one of the "40 Men And Women Who Make London" by Time Out for their 40th Anniversary edition as well as one of South by Southwest's best new acts of 2009. Bones' self released 7" single 'We Know All About U' depicting scenes of an Orwellian Britain, made an immediate impact through word of mouth. Making its radio debut as "Hottest Record In The World Today" as well as "Single Of The Week" by BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe, it also received daytime play, becoming Radio 1's most played single by an unsigned artist.

Giant Step and SVEDKA Vodka continue to bring you the very best bands and emerging artists with the SVEDKA Vodka Sessions' intimate showcase series at Morgans Hotel Group luxury properties across the country. The series has already featured Wale with DJ Mark Ronson at Hudson in New York, Peter Bjorn And John with DJ Jason Bentley at SkyBar at Mondrian in West Hollywood, Diane Birch with DJ Anané Vega at Hudson, Nneka with DJ Vikter Duplaix at SkyBar at Mondrian, Kid Sister with DJ Induce Poolside at Delano in Miami Beach, and Daniel Merriweather with DJ Mateo DiFontaine at The Florida Room in Miami Beach.
