One of Africa's reigning stars, Senegal's Baaba Maal is renowned for his skill at mixing traditional music with modern beats and as one of Africa's most influential and thought-provoking spokesman. Baaba Maal's unique and captivating Tales from the Sahel project comes to the United States following a successful March 2011 UK tour. The intimate evening will be comprised of acoustic music with Maal joined by multi-instrumentalist Jim Palmer and his longstanding percussionist Mamadou Sarr and by discussion with renowned music journalist and author Chris Salewicz, who will engage Maal on a variety of personal, social and political issues of the day.
