A silent auction will be conducted during the night with rare and sought after music related artifacts donated by Giant Step Records, Puma, Blue Note Records, Matador Records, Gemini Sound Products, Stanton, Definitive Jux Records, painting by Greg Christie and Shephard Fairey-designed posters. 100% of the door and auction proceeds will be donated to Habitat For Humanity (www.habitat.org). Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit housing organization that specializes in building simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with those who lack adequate shelter.
Artist Information:
Brazilian Girls (Verve Records): The Brazilian Girls are as cosmopolitan as New York City, the band hails from Europe, South America and Kansas and are winning over fans worldwide with their seductive mix of styles. There is actually nothing Brazilian about their music, more a mix of dance, jazz, reggae and salsa. Now signed to Verve with a debut CD coming out in Feb 2005.
Platinum Pied Pipers (Ubiquity Records): Delivering more live energy to the evening are Detroit’s newest stars Platinum Pied Pipers. The hip-hop soul duo, consisting of Waajeed and Saadiq, makes modern beats peppered with breaking vocals from singers Tiombe Lockhart and Invincable.
DJ Nickodemus (Turntables on the Hudson): Best known for his infamous work as one half of the Turntables on the Hudson duo, Nickodemus offers his eclectic mix of acid jazz, hip hop, house, reggae and abstract beats.
Tyler Askew & Gamall (Rude Movements):
The talented Rude Movements posse, who throw their \Straight No Chaser Magazine-affiliated night once at month at New York’s APT, supply their eclectic mix of hip hop, underground soul, techno, dub, boogie and beyond.
MC Nappy G: MC/Percussionist from Turntables on the Hudson, Nappy G, hails from the original Giant Step shows of ‘90’s groove collective. Featured on albums by Jaffa, Madrid de Los Austria, and Funky Low Lives, Nappy G will keep the night flowing.
