Nouvelle Vague transforms new wave classics into Brazilian bossa nova numbers and sweet French pop songs to surprisingly astonishing results. In fact these remakes are so good one wonders why no one thought of this idea before. The masterminds of the project, Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux, stripped down the arrangements of songs by 80s mainstays like Joy Division, XTC, The Specials, The Cure and others of the era, returning to the essence of the song and adding sensual female vocals to seduce listeners into the fold. Your night is sure to lighten up at this special performance once you hear songs like "Love Will Tear Us Apart" and "Just Can't Get Enough" with gentler vibraphones and jazzy percussions. Karina Zeviani (nublu) is a New York based Brazilian singer/songwriter whose sound blends the textures of Brazilian traditional music and urban electronica. Last but not least, DJ Ray Velasquez (Samba Sunset/Nettwerk) will be manning the turntables with his classy selection of Latin, Brazilian and otherworldly good tunes.
