Nicola Conte DJ Set
Thursday, May 25 2006
Cielo, New York NY
|
Nicola Conte’s first productions originated and developed in the midst of the acid jazz movement in Bari, Italy, producing records for the like of Paolo Achenza Trio, Quintetto X and Balanco. He then made a name for himself in the international new jazz scene as both a DJ and producer, remixing the works of Greyboy, Truby Trio and RE: Jazz and turning pure jazz rhythms into club-electronic music.
After his 2000 release, 'Jet Sounds,' Conte received critical fanfare with 'Bossa Per Due' in June 2001 scoring an underground hit with the title track. His latest album was 2002’s 'Jet Sounds Revisited' where Conte tapped the likes of Thievery Corporation, Koop and Kyoto Jazz Massive to rework tracks from ‘Bossa Per Due.’ Once again he turned what was old into something vibrant and new with an underlying sonic quality of jazz, bossa nova and psychedelia influences – just a taste of what will be heard from the decks of Mr. Conte.
