Marisa Monte will be in town the week of her Beacon Theater performance on November 14th as part of her 2006 US tour. Her listening party will celebrate the simultaneous release of both Infinito Particular and Universo Ao Meu Redor. The albums feature some of the best sambas and MPB (Popular Brasileira Movement) songs to be released in some time with arrangements by legendary Brazilian artists Eumir Deodato and João Donato, and the renowned American classical composer Philip Glass. Monte recently won the Best Samba Album Latin Grammy Award for Universo Ao Meu Redor. Andreas will be spinning new & classic Monte rhythms and other Brazilian dance music! There will also be promotional goodies giveaways and a small live Brazilian samba group will start performing for everyone's amusement.

Marisa Monte was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1967. She follows in the footsteps of her greatest influences, including Elis Regina, Gal Costa, Jorge Ben, Caetano Veloso, Nara Leão and Maria Bethânia, and establishing herself as a star in her own right.
