Sweden's e.s.t is a self-described pop music trio. Recognized as the "Best International Act" at the BBC Jazz Awards last year, e.s.t. has won over audiences worldwide by combining elements of jazz with drum'n'bass, electronic, funk and rock, as well as European classical music. Avant-garde pianist Matthew Shipp, who performs solo, opens the night in stark contrast; his music is forceful, dense and undulates with great waves of sound.
