Zig-Zag Live presents Tortured Soul, Amp Fiddler and Mocean Worker
Friday, March 21 2008
Highline Ballroom, New York NY
|
Tonight, the Zig-Zag Live Tour touches down in New York at the intimate Highline Ballroom.
Long time collaborator with the likes of Prince, George Clinton, the late great J Dilla, Carl Craig, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Moodyman among others, Amp Fiddler recently released his sophomore album Afro Strut that features Raphael Saadiq.
Drummer/vocalist John-Christian Urich, keyboardist Ethan White, and bassist JKriv got together in Urich's basement studio, set up their instruments, and hit record. They were inspired by a simple yet adventurous idea -- that modern dance music could be performed completely live. From this impromptu Brooklyn jam session the Tortured Soul sound was born; a blend of soulful song-writing, skillful production, and raw live energy. Since then the trio has blazed a revolutionary trail through dance clubs and live venues around the world, garnering the praise of DJ's, producers and multitudes of fans alike, who have witnessed the power of the Tortured Soul concept: Live Soulful House. Tortured Soul co-headlines a 10-city tour with Amp Fiddler in celebration of their aptly titled sophomore album In Transit (out in September).
NYC's Mocean Worker AKA Adam Dorn is the man behind last year's simply fun Cinco De MoWo! and the infectious jazz-sampling "Shake Ya Boogie." Mocean Worker, who recently enjoyed residencies at Nublu, Sullivan Hall and just played the NYC Freaks Ball, will be performing with his full 6-piece band at 8:15.
