In a cold, isolated corner of the world where trolls creep under mossy stones and ice crashes against craggy fjords, Olof Dreijer and his sister, Karin Dreijer Andersson, coolly seduce you into their macabre electro fantasy world. Otherwise known as The Knife, the Swedish duo’s third album, Silent Shout, is--as its name suggests—a dreamscape where the union of opposites rules all imagery. As deathly chilled as it is wildly on fire, as creepily insular as it also bangs on a dancefloor, the album is to date their most insanely suggestive work. “Marble House” lures you into electro waltz time with synthed castanets and “Neverland” translates as a wild dance anthem with a catchy hook (“I’m dancing for dollars for a fancy man.”). Karin’s voice tours almost every imaginable incarnation, from the nasal, chilling wails of “Na Na Na,” to the warped drone of “Forest Families,” resulting in an disturbingly beautiful invitation to the dark netheregions of the electro-human condition. But for all the whimsical unrest, Silent Shout is ultimately a collection of tales that relates to us all.
Keep your eyes open for the Audio Slave remix of “We Share our Mother’s Health” and a 12” of “Marble House” with remixes by Rex the Dog and Booka Shade. The tracklist:
1. Silent Shout
2. Neverland
3. The Captain

5. Na Na Na
6. Marble House
7. Like a Pen
8. From Off to On
