There are a lot of classic hip-hop albums. So I will try to name the ones I dig.
1) The Pharcyde Bizarre Ride to the Pharcyde
2) Ice Cube Death Certifacate
3) Public Enemy A Nation of Millions
4) Dr. Dre Chronic
I know a couple of these already been mentioned, but I had to give my shot outs. Peace

London Posse 'Gangster Chronicle'. Rodney P may move with Skitz to the future, but 'The London Posse' shaped the future of UK hip hop, as well as maintaining the credibility of the reggae punk fusion with their involvment with 'Rock against Racism'

well, after some serious thought I've come back to stick my 2 cents in again. Raid, I concede to have lost the debate with you, and now think that 'classic' hip hop should mean 'old school', of the highest quality. otherwise, it's too confusing, and classic should be recognised, almost universally, I think.

So my myopic counterpart we call a truce at last eh ?? I have no hate for you as i said before,I stand by the swearing comments- what's the point??

If you are part of the cd trading group i'd love to trade with you just to get your take on the classics?

The thread is over, the thread is over, Buddah bye bye .... (recognise the classic ??)

Peace (you need it!!)

this is just too much dude. have you listened to any rap lyrics... I am just cracking up at your comments on swearing... who are you, Tipper Gore??? Come on... I'm done here if you're done... I'll discuss things in any style, form, manner I please... and certainly won't succumb to your comments about intelligence because they are completely unfounded... all-in-all... I think dlove and I had a pretty decent debate there on the term classic as used in hip hop sense... and now you and I (primarily you for being so off topic) have jacked this thread and are spitting absolute **** at each other... so I'm done... your words are acknowledged for better or for worse... maybe you should start a thread on msg board etiquette... good luck homey... you're gonna need it cuz the world ain't all roses mang...

I just re-read it and i still would say there was no elements of disrespect in that sentence only shock. I would concede however that later in that post i may have come over as aggressive, non- intentional i might add, and you have my apologies for that. I still believe no-one should downcry another's opinion, disagree of course, but tell someone they don't know No hypocrisy.

There was no arguing for arguments sake either, i defended dlove's right to his opinion without him being bullying out of it by your approach. Each to his own you say to me well try applying that all around eh ? He tried to defend his position but you resorted to overly assertive ways of expressing yours, in my opinion, and i defend my right to critique that! He has proved he is a better man by being gracious and magnanimous, but not just better than i, you also i would suggest. Maybe we both have something to learn ??

Swearing shows a lack of intelligence and vocabulary nothing else, and you don't need to do that surely ?? If you want to see how my posts normally are, read the others and you will find that i'am peaceful, harmonious and constructive by nature. I have no reason to argue any further with you and didn't after the second post i sent. Live and let live should be the mantra for this site .

Love to you raidnyc no hate.

go back to your first post where you told me to "change my mind" and then reread your first sentence and consider how much of a hypocrite you are buddha...

talk about arguing for argument's sake... you weren't even involved and you're defending someone else who I indeed do have respect for in mr. dlove... defended his postion and that's all one can ask.. and also because he has actually proven to be the bigger man and started a different post for musical discussion... which is what I was doing as well... music... you are just arguing for no reason at all... str8 ******* hater.... stop the bullshit and write something about beats please....

Respect - raidnyc ? You don't really understand the concept!!Respect is to allow others to have their opinions whilst continuing to have your own.
Firstly in terms of agression it hurts to feel the same thing back eh ? Now that is hypocricy. But as it happens, there was no intentional aggression only sadness and frustration that you saw fit to shout down someone elses, equally valid, OPINION and you considered yourself a higher authority due to what ? Education? Location? Hard headedness? Ignorance? Only a shallow and ignorant person pigeon holes 'classics' of any kind according to their taste only, as music like all artforms bypasses and circumvents any borders or opinions, that is the beauty of expression.

Drum and Bass and broken beat are primarily European genre's but i don't profess to know more than you because that would be clearly stupid. Authorities in artforms are usually misnomers as when something is judged by the individual it will always be subjective.

As far as wether people need to discuss according to 'my' rules there are no rules obviously, but when you are disrespecting someones opinion then that shows a lack of understanding of RESPECT on your part only.

Maybe before defending yourself behind words such as respect you should consider the wider concept and remember that this is, or seems to be, a site dedicated to opening minds not closing them !!!

Peace

buddha you say peace, love and harmony and come across just as argumentative... hipocracy's a mugfugga ain't it...

I'm a fan of hip hop... don't matter where you're from... if you go to shows, parties, etc., you would absolutely without a doubt understand that classic hip hop is a term of art within a genre. was just diggin' through a "classics" bin the other day. not my fault you can get your heads around this very easy concept... but it's all good... ignorance is clearly bliss... oops, meant, peace love and harmony... (hint, everyone doesn't have to "discuss" things according to your rules... I'm not using fighting words, name calling, or calling anyone out... just being passionate... respect, but to each his own...)
