RAIDNYC- You need to change your mind!!
Opinion is subjective in the extreme and you have a very uneccesary and angry approach to discussion. Who appointed you the world's authority on hip hop just because you come from NYC ? As dlove says classic is not contained by age or place of birth just quality and maybe that's something you have to agree to differ on but to shout him down, grow up and expand your mind!!Peace, love and harmony remember??

Raid-respect to you for caring. Your reply just came across like that-I apologise if I've offended you with my line of debate. Classic doesn't have to be just old school, tho. Check lowliferecords.com.

dude we're not gonna completely jack the thread here ok... but where the **** did I say anything about it having to be american... those are your words... don't attempt to put them in my mouth... I'm saying that those who know hip hop would laugh at your stupid-*** dictionary definition of classic. Cuz it doesn't mean **** in hip hop.
All I have to say is go to a shop or visit a site like fatbeats.com and look under the category titled "classic/oldschool hip hop." I can guarantee you won't find Ty. Again, I like Ty. It just ain't classic hip hop so get over yourself ok dude!?

hmmm. so, are you saying that classic hip hop has to be American? What about the London Posse...I'm sure Rodney P would have something to say about that. The word classic means the same, whatever genre it's used in. I got the definition from the dictionary-just to clear that up. Even within the same genre, tastes differ wildly, but good quality is an absolute, wherever it's from, and whenever it was made. I stand by my claim that TY is classic-of the highest quality. As for being laughed out of NYC, I'm sure I can live with that-it may be the birthplace of hip hop, but it doesn't mean that everything ends there, too.
