I have to agree the Friday night show was off the hook. Yes the JDavey thing what was that? Everybody sat down but i guess she served her purpose as a breather for both performers and guests. Chappelle, all I got to say is "IceBerg". Mr. Douglas was great on guitar during Badu's last song. Hey, for 3 hours worth of entertainment one of the best Roots concerts I ve been to. Also, best sounding. Big Ups to the Legendary Roots Crew, Mos Def, EB, Bilal, Mr. Carter and the rest.

I also caught the Fri night show..

I gotta say, though the Roots held it down - but it wasn't the best of the best of the times I've seen them live. But in speaking with folks who attended both nights - Fri night was incomparable.. much better. Thurs night - a recurring complaint was that Rahzel was on the mic far too long...lol!

Roots trooped down the aisle of Radio City ala marching band style onto stage and opened up. Angelique Kidjo did a her thing with a couple songs. MOS DEF of the Mos High was definitely what made the night for me...(and was secretly hoping he'd come back out later in the night) Several surprise guests: Slum Village, Dave Chappelle did a skit, Bilal pulled of his falsettos, Jazzy Jeff. J*Davey, did a couple / response was rather mixed: either loved it/or could've done without. Badu - I personally was rather disappointed with (only did 3, no more than 4 songs, but I still got luv for the EB! ...and as an encore to the night, suprise guest - Jay Z came on stage w/his hoodie on & unveiled himself as BlackThought gave the intro - w/the appropriate song, "ENCORE" - Jay was on stage no more than 1min 30sec - dropping his chorus and the crowd went NUTTS!! -- incredible how one man's presence can impact such a crowd. I left singing... "what the **** are u waiting forrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" :-)

Overall: good Fri night clincher!
