You know what falxwon,

You speak sense i was very excited about the prospect of the new album after the first being spectacular from start to finish and the second having a few gems on. This album is lazy and a little one dimensional!! How many angst ridden ballads can you have on one album? What happened to that tight Philly sound? Why have A Touch Of Jazz been relegated to bit parters? Ther are some nices tunes on there some sweet lyrics and some classics of the future. But there is too much flab!! Miss Scott you look more beautiful but you have proved you are only human !!

Peace

Jill, Jill Jill. Everyone hangs the hope for soul music on one person every now and again, and this season/reason is no different than any other. As everyone else, I was anxious to hear what she put together for her second release and, quite frankly, I was bored by it.
First let me say that I know I am not alone. The shock over my own dismay did not escape me, so I decided to pow-wow with some of my closest music chums and discuss the new JS CD. Much to my surprise, the boredom seemed to be shared by all. There are of course some tracks that stand out over others, and that is to be expected. However, overall I would have to give this a sub-par nod. I listened to it many times trying to work myself into it, and alas - it's a no go ladies and gents. It languishes in the banal.
And please, please, please - for all of the zealous JS followers, please don't try to tell me that I missed something, or that I need to listen to it standing on my head, or that I am jaded by the success and sound of the first CD. Volume 2 is not my cup of tea and I felt that way since the first time I head a leaked copy of 'Golden'.

I love just about everything. Her album is better than the first. She only takes us in deeper. I love My Petition, Talk To Me, Spring Summer Feeling, heck just everything. I had to put this in my stereo at home and crank it up....it just pulls you in.

She is so phenominal! She had got to be the only artist I know of who can mantain the energy of a live show on a recording. She is just so gifted! I've already pre-ordered her CD. I fell in love with the CD just on the basis of a few tracks. That Sister is just the antidote for the craptacular female singers that are blistering our airwaves with hollow nonsense.

I have to say I haven't come across a song of Jill's that I didn't like right away until Golden. On first listening I really didn't feel it. I was kinda thrown by the vocoder vocals. Though I started to hear it again and again and I've gone full circle I can easily say it is in my top three of her songs with me. It is pretty adictive and pretty easy to get funky to. Also I just recently heard a remix of Golden buy London's Wookie on the Arron Ross Soulful House show (www.bbc.co.uk/1Xtra). I'd like to hear that version loud with a lot oof other put get crazy to it... Yes, she is dope...
