lj0281 i totally agree. Live i have seen no one with more presence or class. He had everything when i saw him perform back round Urban Hang Suite release time. He mentioned then that the first album was actually his 3rd but the record company had shelved the other two in favour of UHS !! I think i see now why that happened, i just wish he had lived up to his initial promise instead of releasing a concept album next ????

Also, in the article printed below, it references 2 artists that were MIA and were returning with albums.
Who is the other? Got me curious.

I don't care if Maxwell is *** or straight - he's stil the smoothest brotha on the block.
I liked NOW - Get 2 Know Ya, Temporary Nite, NOW/At The Party, Lifetime, Changed and As My Girl were solid trax.
I wish he didn't rehash "This woman's work" fo this album though - he got enough kudos for that on the unplugged album. That's why kat below said it was 'bitchy' I think.
And if any have you have seen him live (saw him twice on 2 different tours) and the mo-fo is one crossover hit away from being like Michael was in '83-84.
He's got THAT kind of presence.

according to billboard magazine:
Although details are scant at deadline, two of urban music's missing-in-action stars are preparing comeback albums. Sources say singer/songwriter Maxwell will return in February with a new album for Columbia/Sony Urban Music, his first since 2001's "Now," which has sold 1.7 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The artist has not been heard from at all since that project, which spawned three hit singles on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart: "Lifetime" (No. 5), a cover of Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work" (No. 16) and "Get To Know Ya" (No. 25).

I like Maxwell, but that last album sucked. I think if I were a woman I would have liked it better, it was kinda bitchy to me (no offense to the woman out there). The first 2 albums were slamming big time. BTW, happy to see another Loose Ends Fan out there.

maxwell has been one of my favorites since i heard him belt out the opening lines to ascencion (don't ever wander). one listen to the 'urban hang suite' album and i was hooked.
one of my favorite singer/songwriters is adam joseph. adam has taken the neo soul genre to another level. he wrote and produced his entire debut album. adam serves up some poignant lyrics, is crazysexycool on the delivery and sings about love and ****. no graphic images. when i listen to his music, i feel the same as if i was listening to rashaan patterson or maxwell. infact it was adam's music that helped me believe in love again. the fact that he's openly *** is besides the point. i have to admit i was perplexed at him coming out at the beginning of his career, but more power to him. adam's pretty fly for a white guy.
contrast adam joseph to maxwell...
now maxwell coming out at this stage of the game is a bit more tricky. how do you stay true to yourself and true to the game? maxwell already has established a huge fan base. and i'm venturing to guess that maxwell's next largest target market (besides multiethnic urban hipsters like us) would be black women. things like bisexuality and homosexuality do not really sit well with a more traditional black audience from what i've experienced. that's reality.
besides if maxwell is now singing homoerotic lyrics that may not make for many romantic nights for straight folks whom have listened to his music in the past. lets remember that maxwell records for a major label where the bottom line is profit.
will we see maxwell on the cover of 'the advocate' someday? only time will tell.
i should of known something was up when maxwell recorded those flawless versions of kate bush's 'this womans work.'
peace.
