Don't get it twisted folks, I'm not ***-bashing here so lighten up! Just because I don't condone his lifestyle doesn't mean I won't listen to Maxwell's music anymore. I'm not in the dark ages either, some of my friends and relatives are openly ***, bi or lesbian and we have a clear understanding and respect of each other and they NEVER EVER try stepping to me like that so we real cool.

In response to ONELUV, one of my favorite love songs of all time is "Til the Cops Come Knockin" - Urban Hang Suite, first enjoyed by me and my wife at our home in the summer of 1997. I'm sure that's when my 7 year old son was conceived! So since then when I play Maxwell slow songs my lady KNOWS what time it is!

I will always love Maxwell's music regardless of his own sexual orientation.

Well since we all love Maxwell's art, I would like to start a different conversation about Maxwell to see a little more about you kool People.
What is your favorite Maxwell song & album of all time and when & where were you when you first heard his music?
For me it was
Song: Sumthin, Sumthin
Album: Urban Hang Suite
When: 1997
Where: Pittsburgh, Pa. Over a friend's after watching a Mike Tyson fight with a group of friends.
I will never forget how it just made me feel like "****! this is some kool sh!t"

I think everyone in this forum is highly anticipating the Maxwell release as well. We are all Fans with Opinions. :) And at the end of the day--opinions are just that, opinions. Personally, I think that Maxwell himself would appreciate this healthy debate. And, [who knows?] he may be peeping this forum to see who's saying what. So as Derah76 was saying--let's show some LOVE! :)

good convo, folks ... thanks. i, also, would like to extend respect all 'round and reiterate that i agree we all have the right to and should critically select what we listen to and
purchase.

i don't know why i feel that this needs to be heard, but here's the core of my resistance to some of what i've read here.

the absence of true love in our lives is far too common, yet we all yearn for the lifelines that true love extends. we need that love that makes us better - that love that supports our drive to achieve - that love that satisfies, nurtures, and pacifies. the more i grasp the reality of this need in all of us, the more i can't help but choose to apply the utmost caution in rendering criticism of any individual who is able to state that they have finally found it. God help me if i ever choose to dismiss anyone (artist or not) who might want to share their love revelation as real life evidence of hope for those who desperately want to believe that they will find it, too. Because even indirect attempts to discredit love lead to the inevitable - that when true love speaks, people listen & believe. That's a reality I choose to strive for and an opinion I choose to hold to.
