I just finished reading his life on the web. What a shame, too bad he's not around to enjoy his accomplishments.

I was fortunate enough to be in South Florida when Jaco passed and attended his memorial service. The band was smokin' Pat Metheny, Lyle Mays, Pete Erskine, and some local Florida musicians. I can't believe it is 20 years.

My first experience with Jaco was in Manchester England in 1979 with Weather Report. I met him outside the venue with his wife a couple of hours before the show. He was trying to get into the venue and the security didn't know who he was and wouldn't oblige. After getting him to sign my ticket I explained to the bouncers that the man was legit. He went on to blow my mind that evening. A lot for a 14 year old to take in, as Weather Report where an incredible unit.

Jaco didn't have a lot of luck with bouncers.
