alright...looks like I'll have to scarf up the cash on it. But I think you guys actually helped me resolve a very silly mistake on my part, with another program. The Norton 360 on my laptop can never recognize the DVR to backup files, and it's probably just as you said KDP -- I need to get on the ball & cop a DVR!! I know so much & still know so little! lol

. please pray fo my po soul .

Oh another thing, because the storage of a rewritable DVD is so big, I've put as much as 45-50 FULL ALBUMS on a rewritable DVD. So, it's not like I have to keep track of a ton of rewritable DVDs. It works out for me...

Aye El Maestro, I also had limited hard drive issues but I copped a CD/DVD rewwritable combo drive for the dirt. Now, I can burn almost 5 GIGABYTES of musical data per rewritable DVD and I don't have to weigh down my hard drive anymore. I use a 320 kbps setting for my .mp3 files and a 44.1khz/16 bit for my .wav files and I can STILL fit a buttload of files on a rewritable DVD. It's worth lookin' into. A friend of mine found my CD/DVD combo drive for like under $100 bucks (and it wasn't "hot" either!) If your burner supprots it, DVDs are another option in addition to backing up to CDs.

As for Imeem, I've been hip to that for a minute. I have an account on there, but I rarely use it. It's an alright site but all of the music that I see on there is "old news" for me.

oops...actually a .wav file ripped from a cd will be about 700 mbs not a 320kps Mp3. The 320 mp3 will be about 120mb for a full cd and about 50mb @ 128kbs

I'm not familiar with Imeem..gotta check that one out..when you rip your cds at what bit rate to do process them? A full cd at 320 kps can take up 700 or 800 mbs of harddrive space but bringing it down to 128kps should take to under 100mbs...there will be some sound loss but for car or computer listening it is minimal and only the most discriminating ear will pick it up on a good quality system...128kps is what you get from iTunes..also the price of external drives has come down dramatically..I'm looking at a 500 GB drive for about $145 with free shipping... I bought an 80GB last year for $120.. it took me a year to fill it with mp3s that range from 128kps (good quality) to 192 kps (better quality), thats why I'm looking into a bigger drive... peace

do ya'll mess with Imeem.com? One of the biggest challenges to staying current with the Trading Club is the fact that I've got so many CDs but no external drive, so it's like an ill exercise just to rip song by song to store on a limited hard drive....but my boy hipped me to Imeem...the site is crazy. I see Veggie, the podcast is really fits your vibe, pushing out the right tunes for the public. I'm just trying to explore other ventures to keep the listening pool open, and keeping it all so simple. any thoughts ??
