on that note, check out www.moveon.org, its a democracy advocacy organization and have been doing some interesting things. they are also the ones that did www.bushin30seconds.com ...
With all of the back and forth going on in the "Go Kerry" forum, I figured I'd throw a different slant to the conversation. Sure, voting is important and I, as much as most people I talk to, see the value in making sure George W. Bush does not serve another 4 years. I can't say that I'm even remotely moved by Kerry and I don't even want to start talking having to contemplate voting for Nader in this election (even though he's the only candidate that gives 2 snaps up in a circle about human beings). I mean both Bush and Kerry cleared over 6 figures last year, so how they relate to me...I'll never know. But that's neither here nor there. What I really wanted to talk about was "real change". Elected representatives are exactly what they're titled. They're there to represent the will of their constituents. Far too often, on a 4 year cycle, I see great friends and family members get heated about who to vote for only to mouth complaints for the next four years when they're unhappy with the outcome of the election. I say, take all of that election time energy and make it a four year mission to make your neighborhood, borough, State and Country a better place regardless of who gets elected. The way to change voter's minds is in taking back your own communities and providing real change. The little things really do add up to major change. That's my two cents. Oh yeah, check out www.dontjustvote.com for more of a similar sentiment. They really kind of hit the nail on the head for me.
