ErinNicole...
Regarding your response to Deesha on her incorrect grammar, I'd like to bring attention to your post:
>>>So, Sorry if us white folks are not quick enough in responding to crack-heads who did not have enough sense to even listen to their own black major.
1.)You should've used the word "we", not us and it's called a "Mayor", not a major...
>>> If I was told to evacuate, me and my son would be hitching a ride to the next state.
2.)That should have been, "My son and I would be hitching a ride to the next state, which, might I add, would've probably been easy for you seeing as how history has shown us that white racists have had great success in locating boats...
>>>So why don't Kayne take his "Jesus Piece" Mr. T start up jewerly kit down to the pawn shop and help out himself.
3.)The correct way of saying that would've been, "So, why doesn't Kanye take his "Jesus Piece" Mr. T start up jewerly kit down to the pawn shop and help out himself."
So, I guess you just figure that the blacks are just killing off everyone; other blacks, whites, and latinos? Isn't it ironic that a black can kill another black, latino, white, etc. and it's exponentially magnified. But, a white CEO can rob a company or corporation, consisting of an almost entirely white workforce, and you're reluctant to call that white on white crime?
You do realize that not only blacks, or as you called them, "crackheads", were the only ones that were victims, right? Or, did you just mean the people from New Orleans in general?
Don't get it twisted. It's not about black against white. It's about ignorance vs. education. Anytime time that someone, regardless of race, kills another, it's terrible. But if you think that one black person killing another black person, one white person, purple person, or whatever else, is worse than (1) white person nearly destroying an almost entirely black city, AND THEN ADMITTING TO BEING NEGLIGENT, you need to ask the GSU Dean of Administrations or whomever for a complete refund. Then, take that money and go invest in some serious psychiatric treatment...

erin - that's cute that you have to get personal. it's a message board, not a IQ test. i attend an ivy league school for my masters fyi.
i respect what you have to say, but in my opinion, it was filled with ignorant statements.
while the world is busy talking, there are a few that are busy acting..now, that's where it's at.

I agree with some of our points. I am a very hot-headed person. I am a very big fan of the First Amendment. I believe that he did not think about the consequences that statement could make. That statement enraged a lot of people, people with money and power. Maybe I did not make my point clear. I apologize. Instead of dividing the nation with his comment, he should have used a more appropriate forum to express his disagreement with the President. I do not believe he should have said it on a telethon. I feel it was irresponsible as a public role model. Why try to segregate when we really needed to come together. Talk shows bad-mouthed him and did not help the cause, which is exactly what he should not have done.
I grew up on The Gulf of Mexico, Fort Walton Beach and Gulf Shores, and I know first hand what it is like to be devastated by a natural disater. Hurricane relief in the past has been more of a local and state issue. You have to keep in mind that we have never seen a huricane like Hurricane Katrina.
The whole GSU cancelled concert hurt the community. Stateboro is a small college town and felt he could do a lot for the community. We were promoting a international superstar. Then, he decided he would not play in an open-air venue. I can't help to wonder that would he have cancelled if it was Savannah State College, which is a black college. I felt that we were wronged because a pampered artist did not want to play outdoors.
I am sorry if I offended people but he did as well.

Since I noticed Erin's post was traveling through these forums, I thought I'd follow with an appropriate rebuttal. No spell-check necessary.
First off, Kanye not “kayne”, thanks. Second, Kanye never spoke out against white people in general. He never said that white people didn't like black people (although I think history clearly speaks for itself). He said that Bush doesn't care. Mr. Bush is the President of all the citizens of the US, not just the white ones or the drug-free ones. He has a responsibility to protect all the citizens in the US. Contrary to reports Bush may have received from his Cabinet, crackheads do not float.
Let's think why Kanye would make such a statement...hmmmm...
Our own president admitted negligence in his response to the Katrina situation. (I think that's a great example)
Erin Nicole, let me just say that you should personally be happy that Katrina didn't strike here, because then you would see that Bush doesn't care about you either.

It is ok Deesha. They would not let you in. You do not even know basic grammar. You should have said attend not attended.

Ebony and ivory live together in perfect harmony
Side by side on my piano keyboard, oh lord, why don’t we?
We all know that people are the same where ever we go
There is good and bad in ev’ryone,
We learn to live, we learn to give
Each other what we need to survive together alive.
Ebony and ivory live together in perfect harmony
Side by side on my piano keyboard, oh lord why don’t we?
Ebony, ivory living in perfect harmony
Ebony, ivory, ooh
We all know that people are the same where ever we go
There is good and bad in ev’ryone,
We learn to live, we learn to give
Each other what we need to survive together alive.
Ebony and ivory live together in perfect harmony

note to self: Do not allow any friends or family members to attended Georgia Southern University.

When blacks say it, it is standing up for the people, when whites say it, we are racist.
First of all, I have a bigger complaint than his racist remark. I am an alumni of Georgia Southern University. Kayne West does not care about helping out a smaller university because he decided to cancel his concert because he does not play open-air venues. He is a liar. He played the Los Angeles Greek Live Theatre which is open-air except the stage. Wow, he wants us to care about the children dying in the Blood Diamond Mine in Sierra Leone but can't stand outside. I know it is hot in Georgia but it was a scheduled night concert. Toughen up! Oh and Bush doesn't care about black people. Yea right! How many blacks care about whites or even how many blacks care about latinos. That's like Don King telling me I'm having a bad hair day. AND there are more black-on-black crimes AND more black-on-white crimes than white-on-black crimes.
So, Sorry if us white folks are not quick enough in responding to crack-heads who did not have enough sense to even listen to their own black major. Do you honestly think that is reponsible parenting. If I was told to evacuate, me and my son would be hitching a ride to the next state.
So why don't Kayne take his "Jesus Piece" Mr. T start up jewerly kit down to the pawn shop and help out himself.

Ay yo Deesha, that's really something. Good points. Those people's problems are long-term. They'll need more than a quick burst of hype, a one-time donation, and a case of Dasani... But, every little bit of support is definitely needed & appreciated...
And, it is our responsibility to help out when we can. Lemme give you a scenario...
My best friend lives in Houston. When hurricane Katrina first hit, they evacuated many of the people from New Orleans to Houston. You would think that the city as a whole would welcome the chance to help out, but there were so many people that didn't want the New Orleans evacuees in Houston because they didn't want to be inconvenienced. Now, look at how the script is flipped. Houston is in THE EXACT same position as New Orleans was two weeks prior. Back to my friend...I talked to him last night. Now, that Houston residents are being asked to leave everything they have, hit the road, and face the possibility of losing all that THEY have, they're asking for all of the help that they can get----they don't care where it comes from---New Orleans, New York, **** New England---they just want help.
You never know when your card will get pulled. When that time comes, it's get to have people that can recall your acts of kindness, and reciprocate the favor.
