I want the senior citizen pills that they've got Barbara Bush on. Seriously, they make you see wonderous things. “Everybody is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arenas here, you know, were underprivileged anyway. This is working very well for them.” WHAT?!?!? I'm amazed how anyone can let this stuff slide. Furthermore they're talking about W installing a "disaster czar"? Correct me if I'm wrong, but after 9/11 didn't we set up the Department of Homeland Security? If the DOHS did their job in the first place this might not have been some sort of disaster requiring a "disaster czar." Stuff goes wrong and this guy just likes to set up new agencies and people in charge who were formally the heads of the Arabian Horse Society. I thought he was the Washington outsider who didn't like all that beurocracy mumbo jumbo?
Yet we're over a week into this mess and it's already becoming a blame game, spin control, smile when s&@t is really bad in the streets kind of political mish mash. It's obviously not the federal governments fault that citizens remained in the affected areas. That blunder rests of the mayor, governor and local officials' heads. However, the federal government IS responsible for protecting its citizens and fixing up disasters. I'm amazed at how they're using so called "red tape" saying, well the federal government can't over step the local authorities to get people the help they need. This coming from the President who declared war without getting approval from Congress. Bend the rules when you need 'em buddy. Everyone is seeing through you now. Finally.
