yeah...poor erin. sounds like youre a bitter white person, maybe cause you paid for a college education and youre still dumb and ignorant.
and kanye is just as dumb. its like he gets it one minute and then falls back into his ignorant ways again. he begins to introduce socially conscious issues to the mainstream and more importantly to our youth(i.e. sierra leone, institutional racism, etc.), which is a great thing, but he just doesnt follow through. he reminds me of my pops... do as i say, not as i do.
anyways...
G-E-N-O-C-I-D-E -- thats what happened down in the gulf coast region. and did you hear, call it a consipiracy theory, but families that lived near the levees heard a powerful explosion before the flooding began. theyre claiming it was the army corps of engineer that blew up the levee. the family that reported this are generations of republicans and still do not blame the bush administration for the slow response. meaning that they would be the least to conjure up conspiracy theories, yet this is what they claim.
and...i'm out.

Katerina, totally agree with you regarding the re-election of George W. Bush although it is easier to cast stones from the other side of the pond. I think you'd be hard pressed to find people who actually voted for him in either of the past elections in these Forums. Unfortunately, George W. Bush isn't the only one in this country we need to worry about. I heard someone last night, maybe it was Tucker Carlson, say that citizens of any nation should never count on their government to save them in a disaster situation?!?! Remind me again why our tax dollars go to FEMA then? It's just another reminder to people to get off their a**es and get active. In case people haven't been paying attention, conservatives in this country are now irate with the President over his latest judicial nominee, Harriet Miers. Once again he hoodwinked the conservatives during the campaign to vote for him on a hard-line conservative platform and he shows his true colors as more of a moderate by nominating this suprisingly UN-hard-line conservative woman to the court (she used to be a Democrat for Pete's sake). He doesn't just not care about us as a whole, he bold faced lied to his "base" during the campaign. People need to wake up. 2008 is right around the corner and names like Frist, Delay, and Guiliani scare me more than Bush. Bush-bashing is so 4 years ago at this point. It's time to unite, organize and get ready for the next election (and don't forget your local mid-term elections either), because if you think that Karl Rove and the rest of the Republican machine aren't getting ready....well, you know the rest.
Just to chime in on the original post here. Kanye West is not a racist liar however, I do think that he conveniently became "politically-minded" just over a month ago. Better late then never I guess.

Don't understand you people....... of course" George Bush doesn't care about black people", the whole universe knows...... You Americans black or white, and especially black should know better when you re-elected him.
As for the hurricane Katrina.......... i believed a riot was on order
'Black people of N. Orleans treated as second class citizens' that was a comment made on bbc.

Thanx Veggie for the much needed olive branch and your impeccable timing :-)
I wonder what's Jimmy C's take on all of this? LOL
P.S. Ayo Veggie, if you want a quick laugh regarding Jimmy Colyer, go to the "What song are you listening to now" forum and read my song post (might be a few pages back)...
peace & blessings

I'm really not sure why I feel compelled to enter this foray(my brief excursion outside my accustomed sphere...music) but here it goes... hmmm ...he had an open mic and was ****** off by what he saw happening ,so why not say what he feels.. also a perfect opportunity to get his name out there even further, remember his new cd just hit the market.
So was it a ploy or sincere?
Does it matter?
I'm not quite sure how it could have hindered the cause? Were the middle class white housewifes watching suddenly going to stop phoning the hotlines?
He said what a lot of people believe, "George Bush doesn't care about black people", personally I think it is true. If he had said "George Bush doesn't care about poor people" ,would it have been an easier pill to swallow? Would it have been "shocking"?
I know I have communicated with many beautiful people on this board both black and white, I have disagreed with people black and white but always remained respectful. Unfortunately there will always be racists ; black, white, brown, red, whatever and this thread along with the other Kanye thread has shown me that fact.
People don't want to believe facts simply because facts are scary things. Sometimes facts can even make you think.(insert tongue in cheek and channel George Carlin please)
Ronald Reagan once stated "Facts are stupid things" but they are also annoying things that won't go away like mosquitos or Jim Colyer( another little joke at the end for all the regulars on the board).

I was not saying that him not showing up to my school had anything to do with his politics. I was just expressing my view on an issue. I guess I do not have a right to say what I feel without being called a playa hater. I put a very shocking statement as my topic is to get people to come and DISCUSS the topic.
Questions:
*But do you all believe that a telethon was the right place to express his opinions of the President?
*Do you think he helped the cause or hindered it?
Another Topic
*Should my community not feel wronged at all by the situations.
I honestly do not care about your personal opinions of ME. All I want to know is why he did that and why are people are applauding him for it.
Please do not answer with "your wack*** opinions are racist" or anything like that. I want your responses to the questions and I will truly listen.
Michael Moore's whole goal in life is to shock the public, but I do feel that it was an excellent point.

Wow. Where to begin?
Uhm, for one, you're beef with Kanye not showing up to your school should have nothing to do with his political stance. Those are two seperate issues. Get over it.
As far your half-assed statistics of black-on-white/ethnic vs. white-on-black crime, they are completely bogus. As you have suggested to others on this board to come correct before approaching I suggest you do the same. Just because more blacks are actually jailed for their crimes does not mean that there is some sort of imbalance. As a matter of fact there is a gross imbalance of white-on-black crime that is not punished. All you have to do is dig a little deeper than your six o'clock news, because if you don't know by now that news stations edit the **** out of what goes on, then I suggest you keep ignorant statements like this to yourself.
Research a little. Read a little. Watch more documentaries that are not as biased and sensational as Michael Moore's productions and you will find the truth. Bush is interested in those that are rich. No one blames Floridians for not leaving when a powerful storm hits for the third time in a row and they must rebuild. New Orleans, in my recollection, hasn't experienced something like this in recent history (I'm talking the last twenty years or so). Florida is hit every year.
Whether race was a factor or not, Bush's outright avoidance of the issue was appalling and quite frightening to anyone below the upper crust of this nation. At least it should be. By the way, it wasn't just blacks that stayed behind. In a lot of cases people had no where else to go.
Again, do yourself a favour and just research more than what is on the surface. Ignorance is an ugly thing.

ErinNicole...
Regarding your response to Deesha on her incorrect grammar, I'd like to bring attention to your post:
>>>So, Sorry if us white folks are not quick enough in responding to crack-heads who did not have enough sense to even listen to their own black major.
1.)You should've used the word "we", not us and it's called a "Mayor", not a major...
>>> If I was told to evacuate, me and my son would be hitching a ride to the next state.
2.)That should have been, "My son and I would be hitching a ride to the next state, which, might I add, would've probably been easy for you seeing as how history has shown us that white racists have had great success in locating boats...
>>>So why don't Kayne take his "Jesus Piece" Mr. T start up jewerly kit down to the pawn shop and help out himself.
3.)The correct way of saying that would've been, "So, why doesn't Kanye take his "Jesus Piece" Mr. T start up jewerly kit down to the pawn shop and help out himself."
So, I guess you just figure that the blacks are just killing off everyone; other blacks, whites, and latinos? Isn't it ironic that a black can kill another black, latino, white, etc. and it's exponentially magnified. But, a white CEO can rob a company or corporation, consisting of an almost entirely white workforce, and you're reluctant to call that white on white crime?
You do realize that not only blacks, or as you called them, "crackheads", were the only ones that were victims, right? Or, did you just mean the people from New Orleans in general?
Don't get it twisted. It's not about black against white. It's about ignorance vs. education. Anytime time that someone, regardless of race, kills another, it's terrible. But if you think that one black person killing another black person, one white person, purple person, or whatever else, is worse than (1) white person nearly destroying an almost entirely black city, AND THEN ADMITTING TO BEING NEGLIGENT, you need to ask the GSU Dean of Administrations or whomever for a complete refund. Then, take that money and go invest in some serious psychiatric treatment...
