Having lived and worked in Nashville for nearly three years, I'm not surprised by my man's viewpoint. Nashville is considered the Protestant Vatican and the Conservative, Christian Right has a presence there, which many refer to as the "Buckle of the Bible Belt."

I'm not here to bash Christianity, the City of Nashville, or Mr. Colyer. But I'm not surprised by his views. It's pretty typical down there, especially if you're from Williamson County, the ultra-Conservative county adjacent to Nashville. It's where old-money, anti-bellum nostalgia and a longing for the Confederacy (and all that it represents) thrives.
