Alright y'all, it's getting closer and closer to being a two person pony race to the White House, yet all isn't well with our democracy. My friend Josh (aka Troublemaker / Hollyrock / Backyard Bangers) sent me this and I think he sums it up pretty well. Please make some phone calls and pass this around to your friends. At the very least, we deserve the candidates we truly want and have voted for. I didn't edit this post in any way, so hopefully there aren't any type-o's.
hello friends.
in the wake of this incredibly exciting political season, a few things have come to my attention i feel the general population is unaware of and may determine our presidential candidate without our approval.
if you have been following the democratic nomination process, you should know that the race is extremely close between hillary clinton and barack obama; it is a matter of a few delegates separating the two, which comes down to a handful of votes in statewide primaries.
there are two possibilities where our democratic nomination will not be so democratic.
one, neither candidate meets the required number of delegates to win the nomination.
two, we the people, our vote, does not nominate the candidate but congressional cronyism does.
in the primary process, beyond the delegate votes we are a part of, there are also superdelegates, which in essence are our congressmen and womens votes to choose on our behalf.
in either of the circumstances i have outlined above, it is quite possible that this will be the case.
therefore, while donating money and wearing a pin help, it is my belief we need to be calling our congressional leaders and telling them who we really want in office.
below are a few links i have compiled to let everyone know which superdelegates have already casted votes on our behalf (which is basically why hillary is currently ahead of barack), and there is also a link to those who have not yet casted their vote.
please check out the links below, and if you care about the future of our nation and our political process not being undermined (yet again), please search out your congressional leaders in your state on the unendorsed list and give them a call.
it is as simple as... google your state name and your representatives name to get their phone number.
below are the links i mentioned.
thank you for your time.
