Thanks to Giant Step COOL give-a-ways, I won the contest to attend RAUL MIDON video shoot. It was an AWESOME experience.
I was part of a small audience watching Raul sing maybe 20-30 people. The setup was in a relax environment, before the shoot started they had a table setup with drink, wine etc with Raul's music serenading us in the background. Raul was hanging out on sofa chilling with the crew talking about shoot. Joe Mardin, Producer, was checking some of the sound systems. A few instructions were given to us, mostly just relax and enjoy the show. We were told that Raul would only perform 5 songs only about 30 minutes. So Raul comes in, he cracks a few jokes with us. He’s on stage with his guitar, a huge bright light behind him. He looked like an angel. I’m not great listing set-list in order but he did Sunshine, Everybody, Suddenly, Sittn in the Middle & more. Being in the studio with the amazing sound system was incredible; Raul voice was smooth with powerful clarity. By the time he got to the 3 songs with us “ the audience we were having a blast, dance, cheering like crazy. It felt like a nightclub, I almost forgot I was at studio with cameras on me. There was no way Raul was going to stop at the 5th song we cheering him on so, and he didn’t. Even the producer said hey let’s keep-going cause this is great, let do 2-3 more songs. Another Giant Step member, Utopia7, yelled it’s Christmas, Raul joked back “Yep Xmas in April. He only did 1 retake on a song, State of Mind. Raul said “Hey I must do this one different cause I get bored Let me tell you, he just spontaneously whip a new version on his guitar that was completely different and hot. I think he should put both versions on the new CD being released on June 7th.
Thanks Giant Step for the terrific experience.
Check out www.midon.com more concert dates were posted.
Why doesn’t the world know Raul Midon? I’ve been spreading the word with everyone, by sending the link to Giant Step track “Sunshine in the jukebox.
