1) Garden State - this is the single most awesome movie I saw all year...It just spoke to my soul.

2) Sideways - Hilarious...Paul Giamatti and Thomas Hayden Church...need I say more.

3) Pieces of April - Just a study in the perceptions we put on others.

4) Napoleon Dynomite - So freakin' random...My sis and I laughed the whole time.

5) Ray - Jaime WAS Ray.

1) The Sea Inside - Another killer Javier Bardem performance, and yet, it's powerful and its subtlety.

2) Bad Education - Well, well, well...Catholic guilt & corruption breeds yet another Almodovar masterpiece. It's his rawest film in nearly 20 years.

3) Intimate Strangers - Just came out on DVD. Another terrific film from Patrice Leconte. If that isn't enough, two words: Sandrine Bonnaire (grrrrroowll).

4) A Very Long Engagement - Jeunet, Tautou and a very fascinating and multi-layered story. Powerful yet undeniably Jeunet.

5) Kinsey - And this film was Rated R? I'd love to see the NC-17 (ahem) "director's cut". Informative, historical and hilarious (you'll have to see it a second time to catch what you missed the first). Bill Condon SCORES. Neeson is awesome and no matter how plain they make Laura Linney...grrrroowwll.

1) For its "that's so true" brilliance

I wanted to say Fahrenheit 9/11 but it made me so frustrated and angry I actually felt physically sick- which I think makes it a fantastic film... just not a 'favourite'.

To MaryJane- that must be what you smoke- Titanic a good movie? That was just a media hyped load of crap. It probabaly wouldn't have made half the money without Celine Dion's contributions

Best 5 movies of late:
1. The 7th Seal. Bergman still rules with this amazing movie.
2. The Lighthorsemen. A movie worth watching just for the cinematography during the attack on Beersheeba. Gotta love them horses.
3. L'Avventura. Bored, rich, Italian folks. Actually I am not so sure as "La Notte di San Lorenzo (Night of the Shooting Stars) and "Giardino dei Finzi Contini" tie.
4. Amores Perros. This rocks. Who dares say that Mexicans can't make killer movies?
5. Return of the King. The scenes between Sam and Frodor got really annoying. The rest of the acting is brilliant. Directing, editing, and cinematography just pure brilliance! When will Hollywood be able to match this? (Last movie that did so was Riddley Scott's Black Hawk Down).
