I saw Mr.Lidell last Thursday with about 100 other people. First of all, he passed me on the stairs and I just stared at him and reverted to a teenage girl for a second...

We had to sit through 2 openers. One of them being a local (Starky), who I kind of knew, but wasn't in to. He does very electronica music and that wasn't my thing. Not to sound ignorant, but I think there is another name for his style of music, and I’m just not sure what it is. He was one of those DJ's that DJ'd and blended beats on a computer, not turntables. I admired his energy. Next was Jimmy Edgar, who had been touring with Jamie. He's okay. He was very entertaining and talented. he had a few dope songs that I danced to, but he was also very electronica. but, like I said, he was entertaining.

Understand that this gig was very small. It was at the bottom of a church. We have a church here who let artists use their basement for gigs. It helps the church raise money. It's very relaxed and not really a concert set up. It only fits 200 or so people and acts that are budding in america play there because it's cheap and they probably can't fill up a regular concert hall - But it's so intimate and I liked it

Jamie came on very casually in a coat and flip flops - see pictures. He started with 'Game For Fools'. He got behind his equipment and started doing what he does - making beats, doing voiceovers, throwing his voice, sampling, looping, mixing music, etc. He just goes with what he feels. He did a great live version of 'The City' which he dedicated his current home (berlin). That's a song I don't normally dig. From the album he also did 'A Little Bit More' (He invited Jimmy Edgar back on stage for this and Jimmy played the key machine with fierce passion and showed a range of talent - - I think more than he did with his solo set), and 'What Is It This Time'. He was very comedic - VERY - kinda times appeared a bit insane (which isn’t a bad thing) singing to birds and lollipops and getting this glossy look of orgasmic satisfaction in his eyes, but it's Jamie and we all know that's how he is. The man is emotional and connected to his music. So connected, I think he forgot we were there at times. But we took the trip with him…

For his encore, he did 'Multiply', which I got to sing with him. Honestly, I think I was so loud in the front, he just had to give me the mic. He also gave others a chance to sing with him.

The only song he sang with the machines was ‘A Little Bit More’ and ‘The City’. The rest were done with the CD instrumentals.

At one point, he invited people on stage to improv with him. Some guy freestyled loosely and another did this jazz scat thing that wasn't so bad - see pictures. It really isn't a regular concert with Jamie. He goes off in another world behind his equipment. So, don't expect to hear all the songs and styles from the album. You won't get that. You'll get a bunch more that you never expected. He's very improv as I said..very. From what I heard, no show with him is the same. I think he was very surprised that we all knew the words.

Afterwards, I got to meet him and he was very personable and cute (back to teenage girl moment). He signed my CD and took 2 pictures with me and was very engaging. He sat down right on stage and greeted people. He is very approachable and chill. I wish he was coming back close to me on his next round of the American tour, but that's okay...I'll catch him again soon - 'When He Comes Back Around'.
