Grandpa was the best i wanted him to be in the movie a little further. In his own way he was the glue to the family despite all of his vises. Miss Olive showed them all. Welcome to ****.
Agreed the movie is excellent, great characters, good script and heart warming ending. Love the grandpa - hope I have his moxie when I get to his age.
I'm really no good at reviewing films, so I'll spare you the agony of reading an official review. BUT I had to post about this movie - just had to. It's phenomenal, actually beyond that. I didn't know what to expect when I went to see it because I'd never heard of the people behind the movie, but I had my faith in the cast which included Steve Carrell, Greg Kinnear and Toni Collette. They were so good and so convincing in their parts, especially Kinnear and Carrell. There are no words to describe those two in this movie, especially Carrell. That man is a chameleon, I tell you. He can change himself to any emotion at anytime in a second. The talent that is in him is so rare to see on film or in that industry in general. It's so real. Anyway, the storyline is hilarious, but also want to give mention to the little girl who played Olive - may Hollywood not ruin her. Her simplicity and natural ability to act showed up on that screen. She was so convincing too and warmed my heart. The older brother and grandpa were great too.. I laughed, I cried, but in the end you feel like you are not even watching a movie. It sounds really corny, but it's like you know these people for real. Maybe it's because they came across so real and reminded me of people I know in real life and families I know in real life. It's a dark comedy, but it's more connected than some of the others that came before it (Tennabaums, Eternal Sunshine, etc.). I recommend everyone go see this. I'm not a film buff at all, but this..you must see! The morning after I'm still buzzing about it. It exceeded my expectations and I think people aspiring to be in the business of writing films and screenplays should take a page out from this movie. GO SEE IT and Congrats to everyone involved for making such a dope movie!!
