Man I really miss Natalie. Marsha's voice was on point. This new venue Toad's Place in Richmond is the sh!t. It's a cross between DC 9:30 Club and NYc Joe's Pub. I thought that the FLoetry remix should have just came out there with more of a bang'n intro and then like say to the audience about the change in line-up. Amanda was having a crazy moment on stage but when she started to sing and do her spoken word it was great. I think the audience was a little distracted by Amanda moody moment. It's a show, and she should have channeled that negative into something positive. Shoot if I could spit verse and had the opportunity to do it live with Natalie, I would seize that moment and take it for it's worth
The new stuff was really nice. Please check out the Remix tour. You won't be disappointed.

I heard about this also 7 so I didnt go to their local shows.
I'm glad I didnt as I heard Marsh was good but the new Floetry wasnt. Reviews says Amanda was rapping9 & NOT FLOWING) to fast over the music & didnt have stage presence.
Maybe she'll get better? I dunno.

I just got an email today saying that Floetry now includes Amanda Diva...I don't know how credible this is..it was one of those forward type emails...
Floetry breaks up, Amanda Diva joins
Sources close to the group say there was a personal “falling out” between the two.
The new duo, which includes Diva, began a 20-date tour yesterday (July 26) that will take them across the U.S. With the ladies hitting the road together so suddenly, Amanda Diva explained to SOHH how the new union came quite unexpectedly for her."It was a really random," Amanda Diva said. "My homegirl Angela Yee [Sirius Shade 45] knows Marsha's management and they were talking off the cuff one day and expressed that they were looking to get Floetry back up and runnin. She asked if it was something I'd be interested in. I said, 'Yea of course' and she suggested it to them."

lilkunta,
I've never known metro to flat out lie or be a gossip mag, so I'd say that interview was just conducted at a bad time or right after the drama went down.
I am not a big Floetry fan, so I don't keep up with them really, but I do like their style.

@deesha
I never heard of them breaking up. I heard Marsha got a solo deal but didnt know she was dropping Nat/Floetry.
Is that Philly paper metro credible/legit?
Then again Philly would know as it was Philly that Floetry got their start @/in when they came from 'across the pond', so I'm sure you all keep track of all your children.

Oh see I thought they broken up the group. Floetry has been performing together for a long time. This is to be expected with any band. They added a date in Richmond July31st at the newly opened Toads Place.

Well, I read an article back in the Spring that mentioned them breaking up and their friendship being spoiled over Marsha's decision to do her. The metro isn't a gossip rag really, so I'm sure this is legit. It's is nice to see them back performing together.
Lemme go find it...
Okay, here it is:

Growing pains
Marsha Ambrosius goes solo and loses a friendship in the process
by kenya hunt / metro philadelphia
profile. When a reasonably successful rock or pop band loses a key member to solo stardom, it’s often devastating to the other members — even more so when the group is only a duo. Marsha “the Songstress” Ambrosius and Natalie “the Floacist” Stewart had worked together as songwriters and producers and later as the R&B duo Floetry, which earned seven Grammy nominations, for 11 years. But when Ambrosius, the singer with the effortlessly commanding voice and quiet disposition, told her partner, Stewart, the effusive MC, back in December that she had accepted a solo record deal with Dr. Dre, their longtime friendship took a hit. They haven’t seen or spoken to each other since.
“She told me that she expected it. But it didn’t feel like she was really happy for me. Our friendship got a little twisted, so it was very bittersweet,” Ambrosius says over the phone from Atlanta, where she has spent the last few days recording with Usher and a new producer named Oak. During the weeks before that, she was in Los Angeles recording the
bulk of her upcoming solo album with Dr. Dre — a stark contrast from her experiences mostly providing the hooks and choruses to Stewart’s verses.
“I got into Floetry based on my friendship with Nat. As a performer, I gave her the ball and always took the back burner because I wanted her to shine. She’s a phenomenal writer, and I wanted the world to hear her words,” the 29-year-old from London explains. “It’s sad. I know deep down, she knows what kind of friend
I am. I’ve prayed on it. I made the compromise, and it was a beautiful compromise,” she adds as if trying to convince herself, as well.
Ambrosius says her new album will be somewhat of a departure from Floetry’s neo-soul sound.
“It’s Dre at his most genius, plus my melodies and song concepts. I did all the writing,” she says. She first met the CEO of
Aftermath after a Floetry concert in 2005 when he approached her at the Roxy in L.A. A year later, Dr. Dre, who is credited with turning Snoop Dogg, Eminem and 50 Cent into the platinum-selling artists they are, offered her a deal.
“I was shocked, but I went for it. Who could say no to that?” she says. Chad Hugo of The Neptunes, Scott Storch and Just Blaze also contributed work to the album.
She’ll test out the new material during a set at S.O.B.’s Wednesday night. The gig will be one of her first as a solo artist.
“I’m nervous and excited. I have so much new material I might need to bring my composition book onstage,” she says laughing.
