Gilles Peterson show in LA was at a club called 1650. I think the name is the same as the address- the place has changed its name so many times in the last few years. I found some photos of the show at saamthing.com

LA show last night was amazing- I'm so glad I made the trip. Next stop, Bar Rumba- London.

It was good, a bigger space than NY but sound was better at Canal Room. Only bummer is LA shuts down at 2am.

dj bird -

It was ridiculous!!! Gilles played everything, and the Brazillian section of the show had everyone in the place on their feet!!! In the beginning he played Loose Ends with a remixed beat, it was HOTTT.

no disrespect Freshkat, but he did play a large variety, drum and bass, house, broken beat. A nice soul set that he DIDN"T do at Cielo. not to mention Brazilian which is why he was in US in the first place promoting his new cd. Not to mention some African and jazz.

I have to agree with joshaul on the gilles show. it wasn't as good as the cielo one. he didn't play as much as a variety as he normally does. he seemed to be stuck on the brazilian lounge stuff and my friends and i got bored around 2 am. so we left. and yea the canal room does have a foul odor inside that venue. oh well. his other shows have all been fantastic.
