It's been a bit, but I'm still finding it hard to realize that there will come a time when there just are no more "new" Dilla beats. We just added Gilles Peterson's Jay Dee Tribute Special Worldwide show to our Jukebox and encourage all of you to check it out. Just the kind words from Peanut Butter Wolf, Jazzy Jeff, Phife and even Dilla's mother give you such insight into how influential this cat was/is. Not to mention the tracklisting itself is a Dilla's greatest hits that I know I can't stop listening to. Here's where you can find the show and the tracklisting: www.giantstep.net

R.I.P. Jay Dee
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
Jay's soulful beats will definitely stand the test of time. The brother was a genius at making music.
Peep the much slept-on J-88 "Best Kept Secret" CD.
My all-time favorite Jay Dee track is "Think Twice."

I just wanted to put it out there that I spent time with Dilla's mom last night and made a point to tell her that I physically represented at least 5,000 of you, people who literally wished they could be here in L.A. for the service to say goodbye and pass their respect to Jay Dee and Mrs. Yancey.
She is a sweet lady and a column of strength. She is holding everyone together. Know that when J passed, he did so in loving arms. She told me she truely appreciates everyone who is who is touched by his work. That was the only thing that he cared about and the only thing that is important. She said people being connected through music is how it's supposed to be. She also gave me a little hope and preview saying that Dilla meticulously planned out releasing beats and music like pieces of a puzzle and that it will be some next-level sound.
I wanted to share that with you. There are so many people hurting but all of us are connected and it's very powerful and hopeful at the same time.
It's too suiting to have his memorial be on Valentine's Day.
peace & love

It's a sad day in the world of good music to lose a quality brotha. We will forever be blessed by the grooves he provided the world!!

Jay-Dee was seriously one of the dopest producers ever, not to mention a raw, talented MC. a huge influence to us all, whether we are aware of his name or not. BIG respect.

Pour some out for a true genius...
R.I.P. JayDee.. your hot fire beats will be around for a long time to come. In a hip hop game saturated with no-talent marketing gimmicks like D4L, Jeulz Santana, Young Jeezy, T.I. and all that B.S. corny cheeseball ****, J Dilla stuck to his guns by keeping the music his #1 priority. His commitment to quality hip hop music rather than riches (although I'm sure he had plenty), fame and music videos is rare today. The man wanted to stay underground, rarely giving interviews and staying out the public eye. It was all about the music.. even working on **** from a hospital bed. His ear and commitment made him one of the best in the game and hiphop will suffer with his loss.
