It is with great sadness that I type this. Hip Hop producer / MC Jay Dee (aka J Dilla) just passed away. He was battling over the past few years with illness, although you wouldn't know it by how many records he managed to be a part of, and finally succumbed. A true behind the scenes legend who produced everyone from The Pharcyde, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes and his own groups Slum Village and Jaylib, Dilla made recent headlines with his production on Common's 'Be' album and his 'Dilla's Donuts' album released this past Tuesday on Stones Throw Records. R.I.P. Dilla! I'll be turning up the bass and letting the trunk rattle in your memory today.
