I have to get this off my chest.
It's not fair...really. It's not fair. It's like life had dealt a cruel joke or something with J. Dilla.
Say what you want about how certain people live their lives, abuse their bodies then come to some ignorant speculation of 'he/she was asking for it...look at the life they lived'.
J Dilla/Jay Dee was a ******* genius. yet ask people these days just who he was in today's hip-hop world and they'd have no clue. Then show them the broad list of tracks he recorded or remixed and I bet you those no-knowers will have at least 10 or 25 tracks in their collection. I guarantee you!
He was no million dollar mack or a record industry *****, but an individual artist/visionary that both accessible AND cutting-edge at the same time, plus he rocked like ****.
Yet you see all of the endless tracks and the of the people he inspired, not just limited to hip-hop (both commercial & underground) but also to nu-soul, nu-jazz, new century space funk, etc. and, **** it, it all ends up on one conclusion...
Too **** young.
Jay, may you rest in peace and let your acheivements do the talking...for future generations to come. That I know was a success.
