Let me just tell you......I just seen Jiva opening up a concert for India Arie in L.A. last night. All I can say....is that was the best concert I've ever been to in my life. Jiva sold CD's there which has 5 tracks on it. They need to give me some more!!!

I just caught Jiva out that The Apache Cafe in Atlanta (formally known as Ying Yang)on 07/10/04 and I must say the show was HOT!!! If one should ever get the chance to see them perform, I promise you it will be unforgettable. And for those who are just catching the infectious vibes of Jiva, congratulations, you have arrived! The very first song I heard by Jiva was called "Tiazi" from the Groovement ep/sampler (Khari, forgive me for the spelling). I'm so looking forward to the full release and when is it suppose to drop? And Khari, if your reading, thank you for sharing your gifts with us here in the ATL and I'm so happy that you're spreading the message of love throughout the universe.

SB, I will get it eventually. The stores in the East Bay tend to have sub-par selections on good dance music and I haven't had the chance to make my way to SF lately. I'll likely get it, soon, on my trip to Chi-Town at either Gramaphone or Dusty Groove (if they have it in stock). BTW, are you up on the 12" of "Amazona" by Francisco Mora Catlett on Kindred Spirits? It's one of the best new singles I've heard in a while.

Yes, big up to Jiva on behalf of the soulheadz here in Toronto! I've been feeling the Atlanta vibe for a while now - thanks to Giant Step's Soul Sessions 2. Really love Jiva, Seek, Donnie et al.
Looking forward to seeing Jiva in Toronto sometime...

Yo, Lupine. Definitely pick up the 12". The real jewel here is the extended mix of "I Realized". Very funky, indeed!

Yo, BIGGUP Jiva! Jiva, Seek & Donnie are all aroundtheway peeps, who always kept the acid jazz scene in Atlanta well-grounded. I've got to give special props to my man Khari -- people, I'm telling you now >> Khari is one of the nicest, good-hearted brothas you'll ever come across. When we were back in school, he & Jiva would perform across campus at Spelman's "Blue Butta Jazz Cafe" -- and you could see the positive energy as everyone from the bass, to the keyboard, to them fine, sultry sistas on the mic, all put in some of the smoothest grooves on the block. And we ain't even talkin' DATBU or the PARADISO!! My man's got skills, but I'm just focusing on the heart. Keep holdin it down & doin it like ya doin it!

Hey Everybody! I am excited to see that people heard about us opening up for India Arie in L.A. I've been playing bass for her for a long time and she's showing us love with the opening slot. All jiva heads in the area please come and say hi. We play at apache cafe on saturday July 10 in Atlanta too. I hope to do a show in N.Y. soon. Forest Robinson is playing drums on the 10th. I'm touched by all the good response. Much love! Website coming in the fall.

Big fan of Jiva since the first 12" of Stars came out a few years ago. That Tauriva mix is pure heat. I'm not feelin' that new EOL remix of Stars, though. It sounds like typical Louie Vega stuff, which is still good, but hard to differentiate from one another. I'll cop that 12", though, for the other cuts.
