Giant Step Presents Raphael Saadiq, Aloe Blacc, TK Wonder and special guest DJ Vikter Duplaix at Central Park SummerStage on Saturday, July 17th, at 2pm. As if having Raphael Saadiq and Aloe Blacc weren’t enough, we have added newcomer TK Wonder whose aggressive slamming style seamlessly merges the lines between poetry and hiphop. TK will be performing with Moodswing Orchestra. You can grab her mixtape, Mars, to get to know this glam-rock poet. DJ Vikter Duplaix will be joining us from LA, and in case you missed him at our past shows over the years this is your chance to catch him behind the wonder wheels. Make sure you also check out his latest release Electric Love.
You’ve got GP! Out of Brownswood, North London, Gilles takes us back to the roots of dance music with breaks like the Jimmy Castor Bunch’s “It’s Just Begun.” His classic-funk mix brought on a slew of listener requests, and Gilles is happy to oblige. Later Gilles is joined by the original, mighty Mala, who is declared the “Godfather of Dubstep”. The man behind Deep Medi Records is in the mix and in conversation.
#Almost time for a new album from Estelle, tentatively titled All of Me. And as a promotional treat, she’s released a free mixtape ironically entitled #IAlmostMadeAMixtape. It’s available for download for a limited time, so check it out before it’s too late. Thanks to Mark Nero for the heads up. See the full tracklist after the jump.
