Dynas Video: “The Apartment” Produced by J Dilla

    August 31st, 2010

“The Apartment” is not only the title track off Dynas‘ latest album, but it is also the foundation of the entire project on Badgramma/BBE Records. The late J Dilla applies his impassioned trademark production as Dynas expels the emotions one must face in order to repair an already broken relationship. If Dynas’ forthright lyrics weren’t enough, now Mupalia Pictures illustrates those canny mental images for this official music video. The Apartment LP is out in stores now, but expect more to come from Dynas as he collaborates on a group project, The Planet, with longtime friend DJ Klassik.

    Toubab Krewe: “Holy Grail”

    August 30th, 2010

Toubab Krewe from Asheville, NC are releasing an album titled TK2 via Nat Geo Music next week, before they head out on a national tour. Their sound swirls together indie rock, African traditions, jam sensibilities, international folk strains and more. The hypnotic, psychedelic slow burn of this song “Holy Grail” provides a different kind of groove, with a late-night throb and effects-heavy guitar hooks that’s equally at home in a Brooklyn loft as on a starry summer night outdoors.

The group was best described by blog Earvolution: “Toubab Krewe are what Vampire Weekend would have sounded like if their parents took away their BMWs, dosed their white wine spritzers and locked them in Fela’s basement.”

Frogg EP: “Bitch” Remixes + MP3

    August 27th, 2010

Frogg is one third homegrown UK talent and London vocalist Mills, who brings her eclectic music foundation, which lies squarely between guitar songwriting and drum ‘n bass. Fusing rap with a raw, English-witted tongue and vocals that harness an individual RnB flava, Mills crosses the British Isles to the open and free music lights of Berlin.

The complementing two thirds of the group are homegrown Berlin talents, who draw on dubby electronic grooves and strong beats, without forgetting the importance of melody. Mo Delgado (Seeed), the production hub of Frogg, brings his earthy and playfully diverse approach, creating a sound that is simply fresh. Luke 4000 (Seeed) is the supporting power, bringing things together and enforcing the onstage funk.

The Berlin-based band released their debut album Blink Blink worldwide in September 2009 under BMG Rights Management. Blink Blink demonstrates Frogg’s open perspective on music genres. The band’s energetic live shows have so far enjoyed live highlights such as support slots for De La Soul & Miss Platnum.
