Since Nas & Damien Marley got together for Distant Relatives, they’ve finished with their events and appearances, took a trip to Jamaica, and released singles from their self-titled album, starting with the amazing “As We Enter.”  “Patience” comes with a Sun Ra vibey video, which fits nicely in the global scheme of Distant Relatives and their ideas.

Our good friend Marques Wyatt is celebrating his birthday this Sunday in LA. DEEP, hands down the best party in LA, if not the States, is also celebrating an anniversary with 12 years of dance music. The line-up for their party looks like a typical Giant Step DJ event – Rich Medina, DJ Spinna, Osunlade, Joe Claussell and of course Marques Wyatt. So if you’re on the west coast this President’s Day weekend, don’t miss this event Sunday night! “Special Hours” means this party goes til 4am, which for LA, is crazytime.

Funky NY House Compilation: Henry Street Grooves + MP3

In 1999, BBE released Henry Street Music: The Story So Far – 1993 To 1999, a slice of superior club classics featuring the key music makers of the day. “A Place in My Heart” by Taylor McFerrin and Ryat has been on heavy rotation in our office for months, so we’re thrilled to see some visuals. They’re guaranteed to be good, coming from the best new West Coast record label, Brainfeeder, owned by Flying Lotus who’s just made his own very successful foray into directing music videos with Erykah Badu‘s “Gone, Baby…” and Bilal‘s “Levels”.
