Aloe Blacc‘s “I Need A Dollar” was the theme song to last seasons’ big-deal TV show, How To Make It In America. It’s been fantastic exposure for the soul singer and his latest video with dancing genius Baby Boogaloo, “Loving You Is Killing Me” is a big hit. Now the hit from last year, “I Need A Dollar,” has a more appropriate video, more of a storytelling adventure than a commercial.
On Friday, March 25th, legendary hip hop trio De La Soul takes the stage at The Shrine in Chicago, IL with special guest DJ Mark Fulla Flava. As one of the founders of the alternative hip-hop scene, the Grammy award winning De La Soul has been holding it down since their brilliant debut release in 1989. Today more than 12 releases later (and another in the making) these guys are masters of the game. Doors open at 9:00PM, and advance tickets are still available, so make sure you get yours now.
Following the latest album Soldier of Love, Sade has announced the forthcoming release of The Ultimate Collection, coming out on May 3rd. More than a Best-of, this album is 28 tracks on a two disc set, including new unreleased songs and a remix of “The Moon and the Sky” featuring Jay Z.
Easy Star All-Stars are known for their covers: reggae-style interpretations of classic rock albums, including Dub Side of the Moon, Radiodread and Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. But next month we finally get to hear their original songs. The new album, First Light, will be released on April 5th.
