The “Summer of 77 Mix” heads into hip-hop territory as the hand-selected MC’s each have a personal story to tell before they pass the mic. The production is funky with 70’s Afro-funk break, organ drops & rapid fire guitar licks – not to mention plenty of shine on the mic from all the MC’s involved. Thanks to the runaway success of her international hit “New Soul,” Yael Naim’s self-titled 2007 release propelled this French-Israeli singer-songwriter on a yearlong promotional trek around the globe. Naim’s stunning new album, She Was a Boy (which has already surpassed Gold status in France), collects 13 luminous folk-pop gems, each recorded at the singer’s apartment-turned-workshop. Thievery Corporation just announced they will be performing live with special guests at the Williamsburg Waterfront on Friday, June 24th. Gearing up for the release of their 6th studio album, Culture of Fear (out in June on ESL Music), Rob Garza and Eric Hilton are revved up and ready to throw down at the perfect outdoor, summer venue.
