Giant Step SummerStage artists Fitz and The Tantrums have a nice little treat for their fans. The anthemic "Don't Gotta Work It Out" never fails to get a crowd hype and now, there's a live version available for free download! Watch out for your neighbor, somebody's about to have an impulse Wednesday boogie.
The always soulful Induce has released his latest single, “Pretty” b/w “Get Down Saturday Night,” produced by Induce and Manuvers, respectively. His upcoming album, Halfway Between Me And You, is distributed through Fat Beats (physical/digital).
Halfway Between Me And You is a long time coming. Ever since the early age of five, while singing Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” in a department store, Induce has been tuning his voice for this moment. In addition to his DJ career, he realized his untapped potential for crafting and writing songs. Joined by friends Manuvers, Mr. Familiar (Solange Knowles, 50 Cent) and Jack Splash (of Plant Life), the album became a family affair.
Hypnotic and triumphant, Apollo Brown's "Tao Te Ching" track now has a fresh animated video to set the perfect ambiance. The video comes from the Detroit-based producer's March release, Clouds, and is on the heels of his upcoming release with Rochester, NY rapper, Hassaan Mackey entitled, Daily Bread. Looks like we're going to have to turn back that dial and cue up Clouds while we await the new project!
Last week, our friend Nickodemus released Turntables On The Hudson Volume 8: Reflecting Cielo. This compilation includes remixes from Simbad, Mark de Clive-Lowe, and Captain Planet, amongst others. Also, this year Turntables On The Hudson celebrates 13 years of feel good events! Stream the preview below and turn it up, y'all!
Jesse Boykins III is finally here with the long awaited follow-up to his 2008 release, The Beauty Created. But don't exhale all the way just yet. The Way of a Wayfarer EP is only a prelude for the upcoming and highly anticipated full-length album, Love Apparatus. If this EP is any indicator of what the upcoming album will be like, we are certainly in for a ride. The mood goes from dance to spaced-out electro to folky and back. The experimentation chops are being upped, ladies and gentlemen. Our favorite track? "Back Home (Mermaids & Dragons)" featuring production from Gold Panda. Very curious to hear what's next from this guy. Stream and download the EP for free below!
