NYC: African Film Festival Family Day – Postponed Sept 11


The African Film Festival is bringing the community a pretty rad free event. Partake in dance classes with “world-renowned choreographers and master teachers from Brazil, Senegal, and Guinea,” sit down for some storytelling, join a quilting workshop, or enjoy African films by emerging and established directors shown throughout the day.

If that wasn’t enough, get your grub on with the delicious African food vendors on site as well!

Video: Carlitta Durand – “Nostalgic Nights”

Late last year, Carlitta Durand released an EP called Nostalgic Nights. She’s just unveiled the video for the title track and it’s perfect backdrop for the hypnotic song. If you haven’t yet caught wind of this incredible lady like we did way back when on her work with Little Brother, we’d say it’s about time.

Video Premiere: Lotus’ “Golden Ghost” Video (via

Lotus always seems to have something going on. Earlier this week premiered their latest video “Golden Ghost,” which is now available via YouTube from their forthcoming self-titled release, dropping September 13th. On top of that, they will be WGN’s Morning News house band September 7th.

The “Golden Ghost” video was shot in 2010 at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre and offers a behind-the scenes look at show production leading up to a sold-out performance. Lotus will be back in the Windy City for the North Coast Music Festival on September 2nd.

Also, Lotus recently premiered a download of their song “The Surf” on RCRD LBL, which has garnered an overwhelming response from die-hard and newly initiated fans alike.
